I've been stupid enough to buy 4 different RM GPS units. the TND 710, 720, 740 Tablet with Camera, and the OverDryve7.
Ive had issues with all 4. the 710 had a *** poor micro USB mount, it became loose with the vibration of the truck and after only about 6 months it wouldn't take a charge, had it "fixed" twice, only to have the same issue reoccur. Moved to the 720 with had a better mount location but kept freezing until it finally just stopped working. That one lasted about 10 Months.
the 740 with Camera lasted almost a year as well, it too kept freezing and stopped working. Finally, I gave them one last chance and upgraded to the OverDryve7 Tablet w/XM Radio and Camera. Ive had it less than 15 moths, it keep freezing and constantly needs "GPS Repair" in the settings page. The latest issue is, from being mounted on my windshield and the heat coming thru, the plastic body has warped causing the plastic screen to come unglued around the edges.
Also, the warpage of the body has caused the magnetic mount to be unable to connect, which wont allow the GPS to function.
I have an icon on the screen that says "Searching for GPS" because the magnetic mount wont make the connection due to warpage from heat. Rand McNally makes a great map book and should stick to that.
Reason of review: Bad quality.
Monetary Loss: $499.
